United Way of Lincoln County Internship

The United Way of Lincoln County internship provides students with practical, hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, community engagement, and public health outreach. Interns work closely with staff, volunteers, and partner agencies to address community needs and support UWLC’s initiatives. UWLC offers summer and semester long internship opportunities with flexibility regarding hours, academic requirements, and more as needed. The location of the internship is in Lincolnton, NC, but the internship can be hybrid with partial remote work. The specific intern tasks may vary based on interests, skill sets, season, etc. While it is an unpaid internship, there are opportunities for a stipend.

Roles & Responsibilities

As an intern with United Way of Lincoln County, your key roles and responsibilities include:
• Community Resource Connection – Support initiatives, individuals, and families addressing food insecurity, housing, health access, and crisis assistance
• Event and Campaign Support – Assist in the planning and execution of community programs, events, outreach efforts, and local fundraisers such as the Annual Meeting and Christmas Gala
• Program Development and Outreach – Support projects like the Community Health Assessment, Next-Gen United, Community Navigator, business engagement, resource data updates, and collaboration with local agencies, schools, and community partners
• Communications & Volunteer Coordination – Contribute to tasks related to communications, volunteer support, and general nonprofit operations
• Administrative Support – Maintain accurate records, respond to inquiries, and assist with general office tasks
