Lauren Heavner

Piedmont Region Manager and North Carolina Department of Insurance- SHIIP Division

 

 

Lauren began serving on the United Way Board of Directors in 2021 and has been an active and involved board member since then! Lauren currently serves as Co-Chair of the UWLC Events committee.

Lauren Heavner has worked all her career in the Gerontology field. She has a true passion for working with the aging population. Lauren is currently the Piedmont Regional Manager for the SHIIP Division with the North Carolina Department of Insurance. She is grateful to work for the North Carolina Department of Insurance where she can support the mission to serve the Medicare beneficiaries of North Carolina. Lauren is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BS in Public Health. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and is actively working to open the first group respite program in Lincoln County. Lauren is a member of the Lincoln County Council of Aging board as well as BOLD NC Team member. She is a graduate of Leadership Lincoln Class of 2021 through the Lincolnton- Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and co-chair of the Leadership Lincoln Class of 2022. Lauren is a certified Mental Health First Aider through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. She was the past recipient of the Piedmont Region Coordinator of the Year for the NC-SHIIP Division. Lauren is also a registered notary in Lincoln County and provides this service free of charge for the seniors at Lincoln County Senior Services

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, her husband Adrian and her two dogs Duke and Oakley. Lauren started the Therapy Dog program at the senior center earlier this year, when she got Duke certified as a registered therapy dog through Invisible Paw Prints. When she gets a free moment, she enjoys crafting, and designing shirts on her Cricut craft machine. Lauren is a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Maiden, NC.
