Dr. Jim R. Watson





Dr. Watson has lived in Lincolnton for the past 22 years with his wife Teresa, who is Facility Administrator at Atrium-Lincoln, and their 16- year old son Cory, who attends Lincolnton High School. He and his family are members of First Baptist Church in Lincolnton, where he serves on the Board of Deacons. Dr. Watson was selected as the George Williams Award winner as the Greater Charlotte YMCA Volunteer of the Year in 2006 and Lincoln County’s Man of the Year in 2009. He is a national presenter and consultant in the areas of Board Training, School Facilities and School Finance.

Dr. Watson received his doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; a Master’s Degree from Appalachian State University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Carolina University.

Currently, Dr. Watson is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, serves on the Lincolnton City Council representing Ward 2, serves on the Communities in Schools (CIS) Board for Lincoln County, and is President of WSRR Consulting Group, LLC, and Managing Partner of Silo Investors, LLC.

Previously, he served as Superintendent of the Lincoln County School System from 2001 until 2007. He was selected the Regional Superintendent of the year and a state finalist in 2007. Additionally, he served as an assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction and was a Principal for 11 years at the high school and elementary levels.

Dr. Watson is a member of the Lincolnton Kiwanis Club-Past President; he also is a past founding director of Carolina Trust Bank, past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Gaston College, past Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lincoln Economic Development Association,  past member of the Board of Community Advisors Atrium-Lincoln, past member of the Lincoln County Public Education Foundation, and is past president of the Board of Managers of the Lincoln County Family YMCA.
